In this video, I will show you how to control your Alexa Device with Samsung SmartThings directly. If you are following the 3 steps to building the ultimate smart home you know that Alexa voice assistants are the first step to building the ultimate smart home but you can’t just stop with Alexa. You need a robust smart home hub like Samsung SmartThings to accomplish amazing automations and have the ability to get all of your devices in one place so they can all work together.
When you connect your SmartThings to the Alexa app via the Alexa SmartThings skill all of your SmartThings devices flow into Alexa but nothing from Alexa flows into SmartThings. Hopefully, Amazon will fix this soon as this would be a major advantage over other voice assistants like Google Home.
Alexa now enables some smart home products to trigger Alexa Routines if you are in the US or UK. As of recording, this video they are open/close sensors and motion sensors that are supported. So we are going to take advantage of this and make the Alexa WiFi Smart plug work with SmartThings directly.
